About Mahala
My journey to Birthwork
My name is Mahala (Muh-hey-luh). I am a stay at home mother of two and passionate about advocating for women.
As a Type 1 Diabetic, I understand navigating doctor’s appointments as a “high risk pregnancy” while still desiring a natural birth.
My first birth ended in an emergency cesarean. Though I had taken a specialized birth class to deliver naturally, I was lacking the confidence and in-the-moment-birth support that comes with having a doula. I received various medical interventions that ultimately led to needing my C-section.
I knew I wanted my second birth to be different; I hired a birth doula. Having a support person who was professionally trained in birth gave me the confidence to advocate for myself and my baby.
I had a successful, unmedicated VBAC and my life was radically changed. I felt empowered and experienced a postpartum full of bliss. I am now a certified birth doula and am training to be a certified birth educator as well.
I am so excited to help you have the birth of YOUR dreams.

My Practice
I specialize in VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and unmedicated births in the hospital – though I would be honored to serve you no matter your birth goals.
I believe the key to your birth success is to “simply” surrender. Surrender to your body. Surrender to Nature. Surrender to Him.
I believe the body was intentionally & beautifully designed to create and carry life, so we can trust that it was designed to deliver life as well. I want to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered so you can work WITH your body and not against it.
Every parent deserves support for the birth they desire. Together we’ll meet to discuss your unique birth goals and create a personalized birth plan.

“Mahala did an awesome job in all aspects! She prepared us with education and support throughout the process. As the birth experience unfolded, she was right there with us to help us think and talk through options and feel confident with our decisions even though it wasn’t where we originally had our hearts set, due to uncontrollable events. We didn’t use a doula for our first child, but had Mahala for our second and she made a huge difference in a positive way!” – Zach
